Alerts and Reports
Stay aware of criminal activity on campus by reading our alerts and timely warnings through our WarnMe Alert notification system. All UC Berkeley members are automatically enrolled in WarnMe to receive important notifications of campus safety and activity through their email.
Our goal is to actively keep our campus informed updated with data that we have collected throughout our service, and show our improvements in making this campus a safe place for all students and staff.
Our WarnMe notifications are also forwarded to the UCPD twitter feed @UCPD_Cal. Visit our front page or follow our Twitter to view our most recent alerts or news related to campus. We recommend members to visit the WarnMe page and change their notification preferences to texts in addition to email for more direct notifications.
This information is published in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Act, a law enacted to inform the community of criminal activity on and around campuses.
WarnMe is the alert and notification system serving UC Berkeley’s students, faculty and staff. The system will warn you of situations on or near campus that pose immediate threats to your safety, and will provide instructions for what to do in case of major emergencies. Emergency warnings will be sent to your official campus address by default.
Individuals who are not affiliated with the UC Berkeley campus but who are interested in campus updates are able to sign up for notifications through our Everbridge portal.
Alerting and Warning System
WarnMe is one part of the campus's Alerting and Warning System. In case of an actual emergency, information and directions will be available through campus radio, a dedicated telephone outgoing message and an emergency information website.
Tell us the best way to reach you
You may add or change ways that WarnMe will contact you by logging in to warnme.berkeley.edu. Messages can be sent to any phone (cell, home, office, TTY), via text message or to an e-mail.
Keep us updated
We recommend each Berkeley affiliate visit warnme.berkeley.edu at least once a year to update their best text message address.
Everbridge is the platform through which WarnMe notifications are delivered. Notifications sent via email will have an Everbridge image header.
Alert Warning Siren
Every first Wednesday of the month at noon is the test Siren and Announcement, for our Alerting and Warning System (AWS). If you hear the Alert Warning Siren on a non-test day, make sure to Shelter in Place, then check in with 1-800-705-9998, emergency.berkeley.edu, or KALX 90.7 for more information.
About UC Berkeley Group Alerts
The UC Police Department's continuing goal has been to broaden the communication channels between law enforcement and the campus community. In June 2015, the Office of the Chief began collaborating with San Francisco-based Nixle to provide a more robust system of communicating about situations that may affect safety on and around the UC Berkeley campus.
If you have an official Berkeley email address, you are automatically added to UC Berkeley's WarnMe Group for messages about safety and congestion in campus areas. To modify your UC Berkeley WarnMe Group notification settings, visit warnme.berkeley.edu to update your information. If you do not have a UC Berkeley email, you can update your information by signing into your Everbridge account.
