UCPD Berkeley, located in the basement of Sproul Hall, has the primary responsibility and authority to provide public safety and law enforcement services upon the Berkeley campus and its satellite properties. The department operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in service of the campus community.
With guidance from the UC Berkeley Clery Compliance Office, UCPD issues emergency alerts, timely warnings and community advisories via email, social media and the campus WarnMe alerting system. All UC Berkeley students, faculty, and staff are automatically enrolled in WarnMe. Anyone can sign up to receive WarnMe alerts.
A secure environment is made possible through community involvement in crime prevention. The purpose of community crime prevention is simple: to help you recognize your own vulnerability to crime, and reduce your risk by taking preventive action and cooperation with the police.
