April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month

April 18, 2016

UCPD stands with other organizations on campus to support the national campaign to increase awareness of the occurence and consequences of sexual assault. We want to take this opportunity to remind the community that incidents of sexual assault will not be tolerated, a campus policy codified in 2004, but which has been reinforced by the most recent statements by Chancellor Nicholas Dirks.

We hope you join us for "Denim Day" on April 27, 2016, a day where all of us are encouraged to wear tight jeans so that we can understand the message that even being forced to remove your own tight jeans is never an indication of proper "consent" and that true consent for sexual activity can only be granted in circumstances without any coercion, threat, or physical vulnerability.

As always, the UCPD will have our resident Victim/Survivor Resource Specialist on hand at tabling events to hand out literature and answer questions about the resources that are available to you in case you have been assaulted.
