The Community Service Officer Program is designed to promote the personal and professional development of each and every Community Service Officer (CSO).
The Residential Security Liaison Program is a volunteer-based program provided by sworn officers of the UC Berkeley Police Department. Officers who volunteer to be Residential Security Liaisons (RSLs) are called upon to work regular shifts at UC Berkeley's residences, including Units I, II, and III and Albany Village. Volunteers are recruited annually, and RSLs are dedicated to a particular location for the duration of their assignment.
If a police officer approaches to speak with you, that will not necessarily mean that you have broken the law.

The Patrol Bureau provides primary and traditional law enforcement services to the Berkeley campus and nearby communities. Using a combination of mobile (car, motorcycle, bicycles, and specialized vehicles) and foot patrol, the Bureau serves an estimated population of 54,000 people, including over 9,000 residents in the campus residential facilities.
The SafeTeam Program (formerly Building Watch) is an application of the neighborhood watch model adapted to a university setting. Each building is a unique “community” with specific concerns and needs. Officers assigned to these buildings work with Building Coordinators, students, staff and faculty to identify problems, and find solutions. The program increases communication between the Police Department and those who regularly work or live on campus property, to facilitate services that are building-specific and appropriate, and to increase resident awareness.
